The new TimeWarp feature on the GoPro Hero7 camera is really something to see!
It’s a combination of hyperlapse video AND their amazing Hypersmooth stabilization. It has a way of smoothly zipping you through a destination so you can take in a bunch of the scene without spending too much time in one area. It really warps the viewer through time!
When done well, GoPro HERO7 TimeWarp clips are a perfect addition to travel vlogs!
In this video, I film some initial tests with the TimeWarp options and share what I learned. From the forest to the ocean I show off some beautiful scenery of North Florida with my new GoPro HERO7 Black.
I’d love to hear what you think! Leave me a comment over on YouTube and if you enjoy these types of videos then SUBSCRIBE for new ones each week 🙂

What Is A GoPro TimeWarp?
TimeWarp is a term coined by GoPro to describe their new combination of time lapse video and hypersmooth stabilization.
Since hypersmooth is a new feature only on the GoPro HERO7, so is TimeWarp.
The TimeWarp feature allows you to capture super stabilized time lapse videos. There is some major processing magic done by the camera to smooth everything out to create a mesmerizing effect.
Of course, you’ll have to watch the video to see the examples and be totally mesmerized ✨
The best part, is that the TimeWarp clips you film get processed right inside the GoPro, with no extra editing required! This is a huge time saver compared to the editing work that time lapse clips previously required.
This is also great because it means you can share directly from your GoPro to social media!
This article in GoPro’s help section shares some more details about the GoPro TimeWarp
What Speed Is Best For GoPro TimeWarp?
When filming a GoPro TimeWarp, the main decision you face is what speed setting to select. The options go from 2x all the way to 1800x!
The GoPro TimeWarp screen offers a ‘tip’ for each to let you know exactly how long you would need to film to create a clip of a certain length.
GoPro notes that the best stabilization is achieved at speeds of 10x or greater. Most creators suggest using at 30x or more, but as you see in the video, I achieved the smoothest results at 60x speed, but walking SUPER SLOW. Not an easy task.
Here is a quick overview of a few different GoPro TimeWarp options to put it into perspective.
Of course, any more images here wouldn’t do the TimeWarp feature much justice. I do hope you’ve checked out my GoPro Hero7 TimeWarp video to see the full effect!
