Gabriel’s Top 5 Backpacking Tips

1- Be Flexible With Destinations

In the video, Gabriel recommends searching for travel destinations based on the best flight deals, to anywhere. The SKYSCANNER website and app allow you to do this and it can help you find HUGE savings on flights. Being flexible on your flight destinations will free up a lot extra cash to travel, and extend your backpacking budget much further.

2- Pack Light- As Light As You Can

While this may seems obvious, Gabriel gets into exactly what you should do pre-trip to figure out exactly what you need. Also, if you’re traveling with technology, Gabe gets around easily with his super small- 8.9 Inch Travel Laptop. Is it the best laptop for making travel videos? No. But it IS probably the smallest, and that definitely has its advantage.

Also, at $120 it’s not an ultimate devastation if you do encounter theft. Except for any unduplicated data of course.

3- Figure Out How To Make Money From Your Travels

This is a huge topic in the travel community and believe it or not it’s entirely possible- you just have to make it happen. In the Backpacking tips video, Gabe and I both suggest a handful ways that you might find ways to work online while overseas.

Of course there is always doing what we do on YouTube, or simply becoming a travel blogger. Here is some advice on that complex topic/ business plan > HOW TO CREATE A PROFITABLE BLOG

4- Bring Your Own Breakfast

This travel tip will save you time, money and hassle. And best of all, Gabe has the perfect breakfast that is easy to take along on your travels and prepare in a hotel room using only water. I lavish my viewers with an elaborate Museli making sequence during this tip, but if you don’t want to make the mix yourself, you can always buy it below..

5- Book Accommodation Online- Always

While this may seem obvious, Gabriel shares what it’s like to arrive in a town carrying your entire backpack and have to wander around hotel hunting. He also explains that booking online is always cheaper, even if it is the night before.

He recommends a handful of sites for booking cheap hotels online, although I personally LOVE HOTELS.COM. They have a great, straightforward rewards program that I have been using for years. Book 8 hotel nights, get one free. It’s like the burrito club but for hotels!
